@bobble Want to help me get through this mess of likely closable questions too? meta.stackexchange.com/…
@JeffAtwood Godspeed. It’s hard to keep hope but seeing your effort at least keeps some spark.
@bobble both are working for me now, but fwiw I think that hiding a site does hide your network profile link on that site.
@Jeremy hmm, working for me too. Probably a temporary glitch
@Starship sure, I'll throw some CVs at them in the evening (~3hrs from now)
@bobble thx
01:11
@JeffAtwood 👀
01:29
@Starship delete your account
@Jeremy ??
Why
You can delete it or I can delete it for you
@Jeremy Declined. Why? And you can't delete my account
01:55
@Jeremy Yeah, why? Having different political views is not cause to delete an account.
@CPlus he's probably referring to the common refrain from rightists, "if you don't like it, move to another country"
@M.A.R. What "rightists" say that?
I can't for the life of me see that far to the right or left. My eyes usually look ahead
@Starship you wanna start an argument, and I don't. So you have a good day.
@M.A.R. I'm really not. You are saying they are referring some common refrain which I can't imagine anyone but an absolute extremist believing
It's ok to criticize but write a blog post and link me to it. Otherwise, what are you really accomplishing here? Ask yourself that.
02:01
@JeffAtwood I don't happen to a have huge blog ready to post on :)
a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step

@JeffAtwood Fair...
be what you want to see
I don't care about ideologies, I care about results, and other humans

@JeffAtwood Is this an NAA?
We should ask 2009 Jeff
02:03
define "NAA"
NAA is a (now) common shortening of "not an answer"
fine to delete IMO
you didn't need to ask me
but I appreciate that you did. You are in control, not me
@JeffAtwood "This was posted as an answer, but it does not attempt to answer the question. It should possibly be an edit, a comment, another question, or deleted altogether."
@JeffAtwood But what I was just trying to say is I wish you wouldn't promote stuff like that, honestly. Some of the stuff you are linking to is...worrying...

Think about Trump's comments on January 6th. The stuff you link to is much more of an incitement to violence than that (espically links from your links links). The call for "fighting like hell or there won't be a country anymore". Sound familiar? How about calling the election a coup and saying "its either musk or us".
I deleted the post since it seems to be specific to SO and no longer needed
02:05
> The stuff you link to is much more of an incitement to violence than that (espically links from your links links)
from my "links links". What does this mean? You follow something I link to, then it links to something else, and..
@JeffAtwood While you are here could you settle this? There is no consensus on what very low quality flags on questions were for. When you added them, what was the rationale?
@Spevacus Just wondering, what is considered an acceptable number of close votes on old questions per day? I know using all is apparently too much but what is an okay number
@JeffAtwood The thing your post linked to link to a bunch of really worrying far-left "calls to actioN"
I can't get into everything now, but trust me, we're on the same team
we always have been
@JeffAtwood I believe we have the same endgoals maybe but have very different views of how we should reach them"
@Starship It's a little feels-based. If you're just going on a crusade to close All The Old Things... That's not really the best of use of everyone's time. If you have a specific tag or topic you're targeting, I'm much more sympathetic to your cause
02:09
@Spevacus Well I got suspended for targetting [disputed-review-audits]
We've got a lot of old stuff that's worth closing here on Meta, sure, but is it really worth doing if it's getting no attention?
And is [stack-overflow] considered too big a tag to target? Or [status-norepro]? Or [specific-question]?
@Spevacus I think so...ideally relates to 1 specific site would migrate it to that sites meta though
Also why do we have [status-wontfix] when there is just [status-declined]?
Then it would be really useful
@Starship Something that helps is starting up a meta q&a so we can coordinate action on it. If the community thinks it's worth doing, you have my blessing. If the community says "Meh, not really worth prioritizing" then I'd prefer you just close what gets bumped.
02:10
@CPlus wontfix is for bugs
@Spevacus ok
So not at all unless there is a well recieved meta post...
But many bugs are [status-declined], and that has effectively the same meaning.
We're a lil family here. It's nice for us to get on the same page once in awhile.
> We urge every attorney to join us and insist that our government, a government of the people, follow the law. – William R. Bay, president of the American Bar Association
02:59
@Starship not all fighting involves violence
There’s organisation or simply reminding people there’s hope
@bobble are you content about a job well done? ;p
03:24
@JourneymanGeek not until all content is well tagged
03:34
@Spevacus here's something relevant for [specific-answer] meta.stackexchange.com/q/253236/1017231
I VTC'ed many of the old SO-specific questions under that tag, I think the ones left are debatable
Been considering posting an answer to the burnination question about the job being basically done without burnination needed
status-statused
It would have to be named carefully to distinguish it from the "votes"/feedback that anonymous visitors can give ()
also, that tag name is... questionable. its intention is clear, and on a glance I can't see questions where it's used wrong, but it's vague enough to be begging for bad use.
would be better
04:43
@bobble heh, here's a synonym request which looks relevant... but it's for SO! meta.stackexchange.com/q/154833/1017231

Had to go the shops to day, for nutrients.
When I saw my friend in one of the aisles… my blood ran cold.
Fortunately, they didn’t notice me.
got away safely!
06:30
@Spevacus We should hand out pagers to everyone so we can all make sure we go to the same chapter and read on to the same page.
Unfortunately, these days the press is either under attack, or they aren’t doing their job, while people flock to social media to get themselves brainwashed about the world’s latest advancements and medieval gusts.
07:13
@ElementsInSpace why fortunately? :D
They probably would have wanted to talk at me.
07:53
@ElementsInSpace phew! Social interactions are the worst
I can't wait until all my friends are replaced by AI
08:06
@M.A.R. When you have a friend computer, then happiness is mandatory.
@M.A.R. Social interactions are usually fine, as long as there aren’t people involved.

@ShadowWizardLoveZelda Technically, given enough resource you CAN find out who downvoted you since it has a visible result on an user.
user152859
09:46
@ꓢPArcheon how is that related to a tag? Also, I still disagree with what you said and don't think there's really a way. There was one person who claimed to have proof, but never shared any, and is of course long gone by now.

user152859

user152859
@ꓢPArcheon no because bobble only asked about some tag.
user152859
Anyway, "anonymous voting" as a term is already in use for when users who aren't logged in, or without enough reputation, try to vote and that "non-vote" is stored somewhere. So using it for something else as a tag would be too confusing. /cc @bobble

There was once a great employee that said "Don't waste your time polishing turds". Sadly, he apparently was too good and annoying for what the company aimed to become so he had to go, on a Monday morning, without a warning... — ꓢPArcheon Feb 5 at 15:48
Foof, miss those days.
Days when I read the early blog posts about sands and Tupac with the fervor of a newly converted Christian reading the saucy parts of the Bible
It's too early for biblical poetry.
@JeffAtwood Nobody Appreciates Andreas
Every answer with a hint of NAA must be deleted.
@M.A.R. It has saucy parts?!
The Bible is quite odd, with lot of weird content.
11:11
Oh, I know. I was kidding. The stuff I grew up with was just the boring parts ;)
The existence of saucy parts was covered up in a way that most conspiracy theories can't equal.
I think it should not be surprising that once a nun I knew (she is quite more active than average, she went around the globe helping in third world countries and so on.) told me that the only way to read the book is to "filter" it thru the historical period
@ꓢPArcheon That's probably why they had to pay the kids at my school to read it.
@ꓢPArcheon Yep
after all, and I beg no one to take offense from this, we go from "Moses, you gave all your life for me but dared to doubt once so you will die just before we reach the promised land" to "even the thieves will be saved"
as you go further and further back in time, the more you get the "angry scary vengeful" God

PhilippeBlindspots, I'd like to thank you and Rubén for the time you dedicated to this, and for the thoughtful and candid assessment here. This validates many of the assumptions that the company and the community had, and your open-minded and objective approach is incredibly valuable. I'm going to go out...

@Jeremy backdoor?
user152859
@Tinkeringbell ah, I looked in MSE. Well, so he said that.
user152859
So... ?

My earlier statement is not changed. :)
Oh, I know how futile efforts to change your opinions are :P
You wanted a source, you have a source ;)

user152859
12:27
@Tinkeringbell :-)
12:40
Not too much? :D Pfew :)
12:54
@JourneymanGeek Yes. But my point is such language does incite violence (whether it should or not)
user152859
13:11
@Starship yeah @Tink already showed me.
user152859
But better link when saying such a thing, especially when the source is outside MSE so pretty much impossible to find.
user152859
@Tinkeringbell hmm? Too much what?
@ShadowWizard nothing :P
@Starship I don’t see any violence
user152859
@JourneymanGeek I see lots of it in movies.
14:08
@ShadowWizard I made lots of violence on my monitor yesterday.
I aimed my cannons at enemy tanks and fired away.
@AndreascondemnsIsrael please, take a seat.
@ꓢPArcheon That looks like Kevin McAllister's worst nightmare.
user152859
@AndreascondemnsIsrael how many canons? How big each of them?
14:23
@ShadowWizard That depends on where that gun is present. I mostly do the Soviet/Russian tank line in Warthunder, after I focused on the, well... Soviet... but also British and American lines in World of Tanks years ago. T-34-85 doesn't have the biggest gun, nor does the IS-1. In fact... none of my tanks have particularly large guns at the moments. Some of the tank destroyers I've passed on...
@JourneymanGeek I said it incites violence not there is currently violence...it took some time from the whole "election was stolen" incitement to turn into a full riot too
Oh, well, the guns in Battlefield 1 and 4 were of varying sizes, you know.
Other than that, I also played Valheim yesterday. I haven't really unlocked the ballistas and catapults yet, limiting me to bows and crossbows. :(
Though I did bring up R&C 2016 to compare the new screen with the old one. Honestly, I liked the colours on the LCD better in that game... D;> Guess I configured it with a lot of saturation. It felt a bit lifeless on the new OLED monitor.
I'm in a gaming crisis atm. I can't find anything to play.
@Spevacus Great. Join me in Valheim.
We're at a point in our Factorio playthrough where we're stuck on optimizing Gleba and that's just painful.
14:26
Fine, I'll stop trying to recruit people. :P
T_T I swear I've got games I haven't played through I need to play
I never did finish BG3 even though I got 3/4ths of the way through act 3
I recommend Minecraft... Valheim... Almost every single one of the Ratchet & Clank games... Battlefield games...
Eh
@Spevacus Stardew Valley
The Dead Space Remake was kinda fun. Unfortunately Dead Space 2 & 3 won't launch on Linux. Gggrrrrr
@Tinkeringbell Hmm... Maybe
I've been occasionally joining folks for Helldivers but that requires people being around
user152859
14:30
@AndreascondemnsIsrael sounds very violent.
@Spevacus Stardew is single player ;-)
Can also mod it, if you think the game is too slow for you :P
It's very non-violent though
Unless you count whacking slimes as violent :P
user152859
Depends how you whack them, I guess.
Hey, Star Wars Battlefront II is quite fun.
I mean, I play the modern one. The EA one.
Did I play that yesterday? Maybe? Can't remember.

@AndreascondemnsIsrael I mean, if you like the Mahiro treatment...
Something, something
@ShadowWizard There's hammers, swords and daggers, as choices. And something called an 'insect head' :P
user152859
14:39
@Tinkeringbell sounds violent enough for me. :D
@Tinkeringbell So Valheim:
@AndreascondemnsIsrael I know, I know... I'm getting to trying it eventually, I promise!
There's just so much Stardew to do first!
@Tinkeringbell Pffff
I'm currently making friends with a slime called "Silly"
Also, I need to make at least 3 more mods myself because they don't exist yet.
14:42
:(
Ah, better.
I am seriously thinking to make a "Stack Exchange simulator" on Roblox.
Na, Silly is pink.
user152859
@ꓢPArcheon go ahead! :P
...?? now they support animated images?
this was not intended
14:45
This was always intended.
Ah, barbapappa.
@Tinkeringbell ^ hopefully you too share the trauma of having seen these
yep, you do.
Not a trauma :D
They are nice :)
The childhood trauma was seeing Sjoerd en Hendrik Marsman on television.
let me try something a tad less known then.
@Tinkeringbell does THIS rig any memory?
14:49
@Tinkeringbell good, you are safe.
Basically, the plot goes like this.
Ganondorf in his bathrobe steals the Triforce of Power so american Link and Zelda have to get it back with the help of three pandas that just happened to be there.
15:44
I came back to meta with the intention of helping around the edges until I got 10k. Now I'm at 11k and no signs of stopping. oops
@ShadowWizard nothing I’m currently aware of but odds are there’s something to be found if one looks hard enough
user152859
16:07
@Jeremy letting ordinary user delete account of any other user?
@ShadowWizard probably not directly, but there’s probably some way to hijack a staff account to do it
user152859
There's always a way, sure. :D

Is it the real Big Bird?
Looks like it, at least.
Isn't there something about (against) impersonation in the TOS or CoC? ;)
the name, the photograph, the address, the resumé;
(well, not so much the resumé but everything else)
It could be the real McCoy.
16:55
@Tinkeringbell Can you prove this is an impersonation and not the real thing? Didn't think so.
@VLAZ Not my job! I just have to escalate reasonable suspicions to Trust and Safety... Oh wait...
xD
17:59
@AndreascondemnsIsrael they look like they're about to commit insurance fraud
> Barbapapa was born in a garden, just like a flower. He can take any form. He is very nice, everybody likes him.
Well I don't like him. He can take on any form, but chooses to be a pink turd? What a nerd
@M.A.R. Ah, so that's why they were invading Blackwater City.
@AndreascondemnsIsrael what loser city gets invaded by these avocados?
@Tinkeringbell ? Google gives me some pictures of poets from early 20th century with that essential 1900s starved traumatized look on their face
@ꓢPArcheon what is that . . . thing doing? Looks either like causing an Earthquake or channeling Marvel's Daredevil powers
18:28
@M.A.R. You got close! The name is a reference to the 20th century poet ;) nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/….
> [cut] who were accompanied by three talking pandas named Chesty, Timothy, and Algernon, who were irradiated by the Pyramid's magic. The three of them can unite to form Poppapanda, a being with supernatural power.
Can someone please remove the second duplicate target from meta.stackexchange.com/q/406578/377214? That one has to do with attention for own questions while this post and the first target have to do with getting attention for someone else's post.

Q: Badge for editing a negative vote post that goes on to be a positive scoring post

ZeldaI've noticed potentially good questions that are poorly worded or have bad titles and thus have at least a couple of downvotes or even close votes. On occasion, after a quick edit, these questions go on to get at least a couple upvotes. These aren't bad questions, they're just poorly worded--whic...

@Spevacus Could you please explain why I got suspended from chat for "inappropriate content" I didn't post anything inappropriate
@Starship One of your messages must've gotten flagged as spam/abusive
22:58
@Spevacus Can you use your magicial diamond powers to figure out which one and maybe tell me what was spam/abusive about it
23:34
@Starship It was the message from last night to Jeff Atwood about how he posts so much "left wing nonsense". I can't see who flagged. IMO in the context of the conversation, Jeff was chill with it, but I can see how that'd be read as rude (dismissing his content as nonsense isn't kind).
