Immediately, Barrymore came to the realization and exclaimed, “You’re a grandmother now!” to which Brown proudly agreed with, “I know, I know.”

She continued, “I went out, touched her tummy, and she was kind of looking at me, and I was like, ‘You’re telling me something.’ So I went and got my ultrasound machine (don’t laugh at me I have an ultrasound machine)…I got the ultrasound machine out and I’m doing it and Jake’s like, ‘Millie you’re crazy,’ and I’m like, ‘Put more ultrasound gel on it! I need more connection!’ ”

Brown recalled spotting ribs on the ultrasound machine and calling her veterinarian, urging him to offer his expert opinion (though Brown was mastering the impromptu examination on her own).

The announcement is all the more fitting for the actor as she’s recently opened up about herrural lifestyle on her Georgia farmin the March 2025 issue ofVanity Fair.

In the interview, Brown, who’s been married toJake Bongiovisince May 2024, explained that embracing the simplicity of country living is not a celebration of the internet’s fascination in the“trad wife” trend.

“There are maybe some trad wives out there doing it because it seems wholesome, but it is not,” she said. “If you’re not picking up horse s— or washing a cow with your bare hands, then that life is not made for you. At all.”

On their farm, the couple owns several dogs, a sheep, a goat, horses, and multiple donkeys alongside Betsy. Brown is also taking online classes in human services and veterinary studies at Purdue University to further her passionate mission of caring for animals.

“I’m able to treat wounds, take their pulse, moderate blood pressure, things like that,” she said at the time. “I do all their medical records myself."
