Long before she was a Grammy award-winning artist,Doechii’s parents knew she had what it takes.

On Feb. 2, Doechii won theGrammy award for best rap albumand brought Moore on stage to accept the honor alongside her. “I need to thank my beautiful mother for coaching me,” she said in her speech.

Moore’s support dates back to Doechii’s childhood. In a December 2022 interview withBillboard, the “DENIAL IS A RIVER” singer opened up about growing up in a single-parent household with her mom, who never let financial struggles stand in the way of her daughter’s creativity.

“She spent her last dime on anything I wanted to do and try," she said. “She would support me, and I saw her watch me quit so many different things andstillsupport me.”

Here’s everything to know about Doechii’s parents, Celesia Moore and Snatcha Da Boss.

Doechii’s mom inspired her involvement in church — which served as a foundation for her music career

Doechii grew up regularly going to church, which led to her fostering her love for performing and music.

“I think [my mother] wanted to turn her life around and make sure that her kids were built on really good morals,” Doechii toldThe Facein August 2022.

Thus, Doechii began spending six days a week in church, where she performed as a dancerette in a Christian marching band and sang gospel music. “All of my artistic values and training came out of my church," she said.

During a July 2023 interview withThe Cut, Doechii shared that she grew up in a “heavily religious” household where the majority of her family members were Christian.

Her dad is also a rapper

Doechii’s dad is a rapper known as Snatcha Da Boss. During a January 2025 appearance onBuck Wit Me, he opened up about raising Doechii around music, having her bang on drums before she could even walk.

Doechii’s father recalled her being “curious” as an infant and sitting in his lap while he’d be playing the keyboard and writing songs with his brother.

“She’s always been very attentive and observant,” he said.

Although they had been bonding over music from her earliest years, he shared that their relationship is “on another level” these days.

“It’s deeper than rap … that father-daughter bond, it’s a true thing,” he said. “I thank God that I’m blessed to experience that with my daughter ‘cause there’s nothing me and her can’t talk about.”

Growing up, Doechii’s parents ensured she was always enrolled in some type of sport or activity, but the artist toldSheerin December 2020 that she “naturally gravitated toward the arts.”

During Snatcha Da Boss’ appearance onBuck With Me, he shared how those extracurriculars played a pivotal part in Doechii’s career.

“She came into the game her first year being signed and was performing at a level of very seasoned and veteran,” he said. “That’s just because she’s been doing it most of her life, performing in front of crowds.”

“Those activities and things played a very important role in what everyone is seeing today when they watch Doechii hit the stage and perform and everything … she’s been performing in some aspect on some type of level her whole life,” Doechii’s father continued.

He recalled bringing Doechii to her first live audition at 6 years old and watching her come into her own on stage. After her performance, Snatcha Da Boss said he shared a look between himself and Moore and realized, “Wow, this is it.”

“That was the moment I knew that, yeah, this is for her,” he said. “When she got on that stage and she came to life and I seen a side of her that I hadn’t seen, and we knew that that was it … after that, that’s all she ever talked about wanting to do.”

Moore was involved in the creation of one of Doechii’s EPs

Doechii told Sheer that she recorded the album at her mom’s house so that she could “feel safe and have family around.”

During the recording process — which Doechii said “felt like bootcamp” — she would journal and ask her mom questions about each of their childhoods to help create the storyline.

“I just did a lot of soul searching and honest writing,” she said of the process.

“She has iconic vintage wear from years ago that went out of style and came back in style, and that’s what I plan on doing for my children in the future,” she said.

When Doechii won the rising star award at the 2023 Billboard Women In Music Awards, her mom had the opportunity topresent her with the honor.

“Today I want to talk about a young lady who has exhibited nothing but determination and hard work throughout her young life,” Moore said in her speech. “Anything that she has set her mind to, she has conquered.”

“After going through the trials of life she figured who she was, and that’s when she became Doechii,” she continued. “When my daughter decided to pursue music, she knew this is what she was called to do. After releasing debuts ‘Persuasive’ and ‘Crazy,’ she has proven she’s a star and she has what it takes to rise.”
