Paulina Porizkova Reflects on Son Jonathan's Wedding — Including First Dance Song Ric Ocasek Wrote for Her

Paulina Porizkovais celebrating her son Jonathan’s wedding — and the sweet nod to his parents that he included in his special day.

Jonathan Otcasek — the 30-year-old son of Porizkova and the late vocalist of The Cars,Ric Ocasek— wed longtime partner Erin Kim on Oct. 11 in New York City after meeting a decade prior, perThe New York Times.

Jonathan’s supermodel mom, 59, revealed in a heartfelt Instagram post on Friday, Oct. 25, that her son and Erin chose to share their “first dance” as a married couple to Ric’s 1986 solo hit “Emotion in Motion” — a track which was written about Porizkova.

“In the setting of their dreams at the Rainbow Room, they took to the dance floor for their first dance as a married couple. When the opening chords of the song began, not a dry eye was to be found among our 130 guests of friends and family,” Porizkova wrote. “They chose a song Jonathan’s father he had written for me when our romance began: ‘Emotion in Motion.’ "

“His voice, his music, his words defined both his presence and absence,” she added of Ric, who died in September 2019. “For the duration of the song, as we watched the newlyweds, so in love, so tender with one another, so glowing with happiness, this whole beautiful room with the grand windows twinkling with lights was like a cocoon in space wrapped in love.”

Porizkova then concluded her caption, writing: “Love had made this couple, love was binding them together and love was supporting them all around. At the end of the day — what else matters?”

Alongside her Instagram message, Porizkova included a clip of the newlyweds dancing to “Emotion in Motion,” sharing a kiss during their reception at the Rainbow Room in Rockefeller Center and matching in their all-white wedding attire.

Porizkova and Ric announced they hadsplit after 28 years of marriagein May 2018, more than a year before the singer’s death at age 75. They share adult sons Jonathan and Oliver.

“Erin has this amazing, beautiful, analytical mind that is completely unmatched in anyone I’ve ever met,” he said of his now-wife. “You take a book or a play and she reads it once and can give you the most nuanced understanding of that work immediately. This also goes for people. Upon meeting someone, she has this amazing sense of who they are.”

Porizkova toldThe New York Timesthat she and her boyfriendJeff Greensteinoften look to her son and Erin for relationship advice. “When we’re playing board games, I’m a vicious competitor. But when Jonathan and Erin play together they play on a team,” she said.

“Whatever they do, it’s always Team Jonathan Erin," she added.
