A second impactful project from India has gone live on the Algorand mainnet. The Self Employed Women's Association is using blockchain-based identity and document verification to expand access from 40,000 women today to millions more, helping low-income working women and their families access vital health and welfare services. Indian project Mann Deshi Foundation is now live on Algorand. Mann Deshi has already supported 390,000+ women through microloans and training. Now they are bringing access to finance to thousands of women microentrepreneurs through a blockchain-based digital credit scorecard. AlgoBharat is bringing India on-chain.

Today, the Algorand Foundation, in partnership with World Chess, is excited to share a proposal for a ‘Universal Chess Passport’— a decentralized identity system designed for the 600 million+ people who play chess globally. Right now, the chess world is fragmented. Online platforms, in-person tournaments, and national federations all operate separately, each with their own logins, accounts, and records.
