Running two list with same email prefix

Hi all, I'm running a mail server with Debian Lenny, MTA is Postfix and i will use postfix-to-mailma.py script to run list I would set up Mailman for running mailing list with same email prefix on different domains, obvious with different list names For example we have ml.domain1.com and ml.domain2.net, i would like to have LISTADDRESS LISTNAME tech(a)ml.domain1.com tech-ml.domain1.com tech(a)ml.domain.2.net tech-ml.domain2.net In this way i can have the same address on differente domains and Mailman (my version is 2.1.11) can distinguish between lists because the list name is different. The list name will be also used to access web interface, so we have http://ml.domain1.com/mailman/admin/tech-ml.domain1.com http://ml.domain2.net/mailman/admin/tech-ml.domain2.net Is possible to accomplish this task? Any idea?

Hide list address?

Hi, Is there any way to configure Mailman such that, for an announcement-only type list, when a message is sent to the list, the To: shows the member's address, rather than the list address? Some list software allows the ability to hide the list address itself, so that address is not advertised. I couldn't find any configuration specific to that.

Add "sender's name/email" to BODY of mail as header?

I want all mails sent to the list to come from the list's email address... But, in this case, if the user forgets to sign their name at the bottom of their mail body, effectively the mail to the list is anonymous...! Is there a way to add the user name (or email address) to the top of each mail so that the mails have the name of the sender, while the mail itself comes from the list address? I have looked high and low for an answer, but noone seems to have the solution. Thank you! Mal

Setting MIME as default for new Non-Digest subscribers

Hi - I have searched FAQ and archives to find an answer. Hoping you can help. I have a new list (with previously imported addresses) for announcements only, and wish these announcements to be received immediately. I set the defaults to allow non-digest and to not allow digest. I wish to send out announcements in html, and so wish to make the default for new subscribers be MIME. While I see a setting under Digest Options (MIME_is_Default_Digest), I don't see any equivalent option under Non-Digest Options... and new subscribers continue to come in as plain text. QUESTIONS: In order to avoid having to manually change this option for each existing subscriber, is there a way to force all existing subscribers to receive MIME in Non-Digest mode? If not, is there a way to force all NEW subscribers to be enrolled with MIME as their default? Also, is there a way to "lock" the MIME switch on, so that users who try to change their option to plain text will be prevented from doing so? Thanks - Steve

Changing the received time on an outgoing authorized email message?

When authorizing a moderated list posting is it possible to change the date/time on the outgoing authorized list message to the time it was approved instead of the message showing the time it was first received by mailman? Thanks Paul

Where is the template for monthly password reminders?

Where can I find the template for the monthly password reminder email? I'd like to modify it so that it doesn't contain the password (our members object to this being sent unbidden in plain text), and so that it reminds users to make sure their subscription address matches the address from which they currently send email (ideally with a link to their personal options page so they can update). -- Michael R. Hi all, I've followed the FAQ to move some lists across to a new server, but now on the new machine any message posted to a list gets passed to Mailman and then disappears. Any ideas? The new server is running a fresh install of Mailman (it didn't have any lists before I moved these ones across) and the move went from Slackware to Gentoo so many of the paths have changed, just in case these are saved in the list data. (I have run the fixurl script as per the FAQ, and the lists do appear in the Mailman web UI.) Many thanks, Adam.

Mailman bug or browser behaviour?

Hi, I've noticed an odd thing but am not sure if it's Mailman (2.1.11) or my browser (Lynx 2.8.7dev.9) which is at fault. I've noticed that if I go to pending Moderator requests and approve a message from a particular user, if I leave the resulting page open which says "Click here to reload this page" and another message from that user comes through which requires approval, if I click to reload the page, the message is automatically approved and I'm told there are no pending requests. I wondered if perhaps someone else was clearing the queue at the same time, but I've seen this several times now so I'm confident that it's either Mailman or my browser that's to blame here. Virtual Domains for Mailing Lists in MailMan

Hello I found this E-Mail address on the MailMan homepage and decided to contact you as I don't seem to be able to locate the information I need elsewhere. To explain my circumstance. I am a visually impaired person, trying to get to grips with administrating a mail server under Apple Mac OS X 10.5.7 (Leopard) server. I need to host mailing lists under virtual domains hosted on our server but can't see quite how this is accomplished. Is there anywhere I can obtain this information as Apple's documentation on this subject seems poor from what I've seen. I really do apologise for any inconvenience I may cause you by contacting you - but if you could point me to the relevant information pages as to how to accomplish virtual domain list configuration under Apple's server platform I'd be very grateful. As a blind person this information is not always easy for me to locate. Thank you in advance for any help. Gordon

Ralf pointed out the --fromall option on shell's remove_members script. On the remove_members help it mentions --nouserack -n Don't send the user acknowledgements. If not specified, the list default value is used. Which is this default value ? On remove_members --fromall ,.,. it did not send out any ack to the unsubscribed user but it did send to the administrator as defined by the mailing list option. thanks Dimitrios
